About Me (1)
"My name is Melony, I go by Mel, and I am a mother of five crazy babies, four girls
and a boy, ranging in age from nine to nineteen. I am also the spouse of a Marine, we are
currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Being a military spouse I know how lonely it can be
when your spouse is away, and I know how difficult it can be to raise a baby with little or no
support system in the area you are stationed. As a military spouse, we must learn the
motto “bloom where you are planted”. I would like to help new military parents learn to grow
and develop the confidence needed to be great parents for their new babies if/when their
spouses are away."

“Yellow Footprints comes from our Marine background. When our Marines first get to
boot camp, they are told to stand on the yellow footprints to begin their journey into learning
how to be Marines. I’d like to take this same concept and help new parents begin their new
journey into parenthood by guiding them with yellow footprints to confidence. As a mother of
five, I have had five very different experiences with each birth of my babies, and I know
every birth and every baby is different. Everyone’s experiences will be different, and I can
help you process that in your postpartum care. I can help with everything from the anxiety
you will feel the day you come home from the hospital to your baby’s first bath and beyond.”

“I can assist with developing the needed skills in developing a feeding routine at each stage
of your baby’s growth and assist in getting your baby on a sleep routine. You name it,
chances are I’ve dealt with it with my own children or others that I’ve been associated with.
I am very resourceful and have many connections to assist with whatever issue we may run
into. If I do not know the answer, I will know how/where to find someone that is able to
answer the question at hand.
I will be as available to you as I can be, and I will make it my mission to you that I will
do my best to provide the best quality of service to you that I possibly can.”

“I have had the privilege of having Melony Cardona in mine and my family's lives for over six
years. Seeing her with her children was such an amazing experience for me because she is an
amazing mother. Then, 3 1/2 years ago I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, Avaiah.
Although at this point Melony lived in a different state than I, she was there for me every step of
the way. I could call her at any time of the day or night. I asked her for advice on everything.
This included everything from asking her what contractions felt like to what the baby's snot is supposed to look like. Although I helped raise 10 of my nieces and nephews, it all felt brand new to me and Melony never made me feel dumb for needing help from her.”

“When my daughter was
born, she came all the way from Virginia to help with her. She assisted us with the baby';s first
bath, taught my husband what we call "the dance" to help soothe baby, and she assured us every time we doubted ourselves. When my daughter turned one, Mel traveled to see us and while she was here she helped me wean my daughter from breastfeeding. She stayed up with her the entire week she was here while I was able to sleep in the other room. My daughter is about to be 3 and I now have a 4-month-old son, Melony is still the person my husband and I run to for advice with everything! We are very blessed to have her in our lives.”

I gave birth in December of 2017, and although I did have a hospital birth, Melony was by my
side whenever I needed her. Not only is she one of my closest friends, she was a mommy who
was always willing to help me with whatever I needed. She talked with me about postpartum and
my son’s “witching hour”. The stability she gave my mental health was something I will always
be grateful for. As a young mom it was hard for me to cope with my life being turned upside
down and having no one really my age to help me still feel normal. Melony was that person for
me.
